Prototype Ginsenosides are major active compounds in Araliaceae ginseng spices like Panax ginseng, American ginseng, Notoginseng, Japanese ginseng and Panax vietnamensis. About a hundred of prototype ginsenoside (i.e, Ra, Rb1, Rb2, Rb3, Rc, Rd, Re, Rg1, Rg2, Rf) are currently isolated and identified. They can be extracted directly from Araliaceae ginseng spices.
Prototype ginsenosides are tetracyclic triterpenoids. Their metabolic and transformed derivatives are academically called rare ginsenosides (i.e. Rg3, Rh1, C-K, Rh2, Rg5, Rk1, Rh3, Rk2, Rh4, Rk3, aPPT, aPPD, etc.)
There are only extremely small quantities of rare ginsenosides in ginseng spices. They only exist in wild ginseng, red ginseng and ginseng fruit. The direct preparation and extraction of rare ginsenosides from ginseng plants can be only achieved by exceptional technologies. Globally, only Canada currently owns the proprietary technology for the transformation and preparation of more than 1000 kg rare ginsenosides.
